Golden Putter – A Celebrated Tradition
Established in 1980, the Golden Putter was created by Queenscliff Golf Club as a prestigious yet accessible event to encourage women’s participation in competitive golf. The format was simple, the spirit inclusive, and the prize… symbolic. Golden Putters were traditionally awarded to the winning team, providing a striking memento of their victory.
Over the years, the event has been generously supported by sponsors such as:
• Dawn and Laurie Wheelan
• Judy and Lorraine Golightly
• Fay Neville
• Anthony Webber (Lake and Land Civil Contracting)
Now, 45 years on, the Golden Putter 4BBB Stableford Pairs Event remains one of the most anticipated fixtures on the women’s golfing calendar. In 2025, we’re refreshing the tradition. While the winning team will still receive a Golden Putter each, it will now be a functional, ready-to-play club—so they can take their win straight back out onto the course.
Now that’s something to play for.
